REI REI Flash 45L Backpack (2013)

The REI Flash 45 (2013) is an earlier generation of the Flash 45 line, built around a removable internal frame and foam-padded back panel rather than the tensioned-mesh system used in later versions — a simpler, slightly heavier setup that tends to hold its shape better under an unevenly packed load. At 907 g, it's still on the lighter side for a 45-litre internal-frame pack. The 210D ripstop nylon body pairs with a removable lid pocket and a drawstring closure for quick top access. The feature set — two side mesh pockets, a front mesh pocket, padded and removable hip-belt pockets, a single ice-axe loop, and side loops for trekking-pole attachment — is aimed squarely at multi-day trekking over mixed terrain. Adjustable shoulder straps with a chest strap and load lifters help distribute weight up to the pack's stated 14 kg load capacity. It's a practical, somewhat old-school build for hikers who prefer a simpler, more durable back system over the mesh-suspended panels found on newer packs.
