The Superior Wilderness Designs Ultralight Long Haul 40L is an internal-frame ultralight pack that, unlike frameless designs, transfers load onto the hips via aluminum stays and a contact-padded back panel. At 40 L and 827 g, weight per liter works out to about 20.7 g — heavier than a pure frameless ultralight, but that's the trade-off for load transfer, plus a chest strap and load lifters. The body is built from 200D Ultra PE (UHMWPE) fabric, chosen for its balance of low weight and abrasion resistance.
A padded hip belt with pockets keeps a map or snack within reach without taking the pack off, while the roll-top main closure lets you dial the volume up or down depending on how much you're carrying. There's one front pocket and two side pockets, but no dedicated hydration sleeve. The combination of a frame, load-carrying straps, and a tougher fabric makes this a solid pick for thru-hiking and multi-day trips where you want lower weight than a traditional backpacking pack without giving up all carrying comfort.
