Description

The Optimus Crux is an ultralight, upright canister-top stove weighing 83 g. Its folding pot support arms tuck into the recess on the bottom of a fuel canister when packed, so the stove takes up almost no extra space in a pack. The 3000 W burner boils a liter of water in about 3 minutes and includes simmer control for finer heat adjustment rather than just full blast. Per the spec, wind resistance is rated poor, so without a separate windscreen — sold apart from the stove — efficiency and boil times drop noticeably in exposed conditions. There's no piezo ignition or heat exchanger, and it runs on standard EN417 threaded canisters only. It suits hikers and bikepackers who want the lightest, most compact single-pot setup and don't mind lighting it with a match or lighter. It ships with a carry bag and a 2-year warranty, though per the spec it isn't designed to be field-repaired or run on alternative fuels.
