Description

The Optimus Clip-On Windshield is an 87 g aluminium windscreen that clips directly onto EN417-threaded gas canisters — the standard used by the vast majority of portable canister stoves. Its thin aluminium folds around the flame and pot to cut down on heat lost to moving air. Per the spec sheet it offers good wind resistance and is sized for pots up to 11 cm in diameter, which covers typical ultralight cookware for solo cooking. The direct payoff of better flame shielding is lower fuel consumption and faster boil times in conditions where an unshielded stove would lose efficiency. It suits hikers and bikepackers running canister stoves in open, exposed terrain who want to save fuel without switching to a stove with a built-in windscreen. The minor downside is that it's an accessory purchased separately from the stove, and its usefulness is capped by the 11 cm pot-size limit it's designed around.
