At 170 g, the Snowline Chainsen Trail is the lightest of the three Chainsen models and is built specifically with running gait in mind. Its 13 hardened stainless-steel spikes are shorter — about 7.5 mm — than those on the Light or Pro, favoring a low, flat-front profile that stays unobtrusive underfoot.
The buckle-free TPE harness slips over trail runners or hiking boots in seconds and holds securely without straps to adjust mid-run. The shorter spikes trade some grip on hard alpine ice for versatility: the same set handles ice, packed snow, and mud, making it a reasonable one-piece solution for shoulder-season runs where conditions swing between dry trail and icy patches. A storage pouch keeps the spikes from damaging other gear when packed away.
Because the spikes are shorter than the Pro's, the Trail isn't the choice for sustained travel on steep, hard ice — there the Pro's longer points and horizontal front spikes offer more security. For trail running and light winter hiking with mixed rather than consistently icy conditions, the low weight is the main selling point.
