The Etowah Outfitters 6x8.5 tarp is a flat rectangular shelter made from Dyneema Composite Fabric (DCF), a non-woven laminate prized in ultralight shelters for combining very low weight with high tear strength and zero water absorption. At roughly 116 g for 4.74 m² of coverage, it's about as light as tarp shelters get, with a factory seam-taped centre seam and bonded reinforced tabs at all 6 attachment points to handle guyline tension without the fabric itself bearing load. Its 20,000 mm waterproof rating is well above what's needed for sustained rain, and the flat rectangular cut with a 2.59 m ridgeline keeps pitching options flexible — A-frame, lean-to, or various asymmetric configurations — though as with any flat tarp, pitch quality depends entirely on the user's staking and guying skill. Trekking poles or dedicated tarp poles are required; none are included, and guylines are supplied.
