Zpacks Hexamid Solo Tarp

The Zpacks Hexamid Solo Tarp is an ultralight solo shelter made from Dyneema Composite Fabric (DCF), cut in a catenary hexagonal shape so the edges curve slightly to reduce flapping in wind. It has a 2.74 m ridgeline, 4.8 m² of coverage, and eight attachment points for different pitch configurations. DCF is inherently waterproof (rated at 20,000 mm), so no additional treatment is needed. The manufacturer's figure for the tarp alone is 164 g (5.8 oz); the included stuff sack and guylines are not counted in that figure. Poles are required and not included — trekking poles or dedicated tent poles are needed to pitch it. Given its low weight and compact pack size, it suits ultralight trips as a primary or backup shelter for hikers comfortable with the trade-offs of a floorless, open-sided design in exchange for minimal weight.
