Description
The Hyperlite Mountain Gear Echo II Tarp - only is a catenary-cut A-frame tarp made from DCF8 (Dyneema Composite Fabric), pitched using two trekking poles instead of dedicated tent poles. A 4.5 m² floor area and 3.05 m ridgeline provide enough room for one to two people under a minimalist shelter, with total weight coming in under 400 g.
Seams are bonded and taped, so unlike silnylon tarps this one doesn't need field seam-sealing before first use. Fourteen attachment points, including radially double-reinforced corners and ridgeline D-rings, allow multiple pitch configurations and let you attach the inner mesh insert from the full Echo II shelter system, which is sold separately.
This tarp-only version is built for experienced ultralight backpackers who already use trekking poles as tent poles and prioritize minimal shelter weight over the enclosed comfort and bug protection of a full tent.
