Description
The Liteway Simplex Max Tarp is an asymmetric silpoly shelter for one hiker who wants extra room, or two traveling light together. At 265 g it undercuts most two-person and even many one-person tarps, using a minimal 8-point catenary-cut design that pitches as an A-frame or half-pyramid depending on terrain and weather. The 5 m² floor area gives enough space for a bivouac setup with gear stowed inside, without the bulk of a fully enclosed tent.
UHMW PE guylines are included, saving the usual upgrade many ultralight hikers make to stock tarp cordage. One trade-off to plan for: seams aren't factory-sealed, so a round of field seam-sealing with silicone sealant is needed before the tarp is fully waterproof — a common practice in ultralight gear that keeps weight and cost down but adds prep time. Like any single-wall tarp it needs trekking poles and offers no floor or bug protection, so it suits hikers already comfortable with minimalist, DIY-style camping over enclosed tent systems.
