Description
The LiteOutdoors Silnylon Tarp is a flat rectangular shelter for ultralight hikers who prefer the flexibility of a tarp over a fully enclosed tent. At 9 m² (10' × 10') and 448 g including its stuff sack, it sits mid-pack in tarp weight — heavier than DCF options but cheaper and more abrasion-resistant, since silnylon handles ground contact and pole friction better than laminate fabrics. Seventeen webbing loops along the perimeter give a wide range of pitch options, from a basic A-frame on two trekking poles to lower, storm-worthy configurations, though poles are required since none are included.
The fabric carries a 2000+ mm waterproof rating, solid for sustained rain, but the 3.05 m ridgeline seam needs sealing before first use, as is standard for silnylon shelters. Guylines are not included, so budget for cordage and stakes separately. Available in gray and green, it suits hikers who want a lightweight, versatile, durable three-season shelter and are comfortable pitching and sealing it themselves.
