The Big Agnes Blacktail 3 is the three-person version of the Blacktail line, a freestanding double-wall dome built on aluminum poles with an inner-tent-first pitch. For a group of three, or a couple carrying extra gear, it offers 4.09 m² of floor space and a 112 cm peak height — enough to sit up comfortably rather than crouch.
Trail weight of 2354 g and full weight of 2578 g work out to 859 g per person at full capacity, a reasonable ratio for a three-season tent this size, though overkill for solo ultralight use. Fly and floor are recycled 75D polyester with PU coating, and seams come factory-taped, so the tent is ready to use without additional sealing.
Two vestibules totaling 1.67 m² and two doors let occupants get in and out without climbing over each other, a partial-mesh inner tent handles airflow, and four pockets plus a lantern loop round out the details. A footprint is sold separately. The Blacktail 3 suits families or groups of friends on multi-day trips where space matters more than shaving weight.
