Big Agnes Sarvis VST 2

The Sarvis VST 2 uses Big Agnes's HyperBead fabric technology in a hybrid single/double-wall construction that blurs the usual line between the two categories to save weight without going fully single-wall. At a 1130 g minimum trail weight (1270 g with stakes and stuff sacks), it's noticeably lighter than the brand's conventional Salt Creek or Seedhouse domes while still pitching freestanding. Two aluminum DAC Featherlite NFL poles set up with a unified pitch-together method rather than inner-first, and the tent uses full mesh on the inner body with a 20D recycled solution-dyed polyester fly and 15D recycled nylon floor — notably thin fabrics that trade durability for weight savings. The HyperBead coating is PFAS-free, which matters if avoiding forever chemicals in DWR treatments is a priority. Two doors and two vestibules totaling 1.6 m² keep livability reasonable for two. At 635 g per person, this sits closer to ultralight territory than most freestanding two-door tents, making it a strong candidate for thru-hiking or weight-conscious backpacking, provided the thinner fabrics get the extra care ultralight gear generally demands.
