Durston X-Dome 2

The Durston X-Dome 2 is a freestanding two-person tent built on Easton carbon poles, coming in at 1,260 g minimum weight — light for a freestanding double-wall design, where non-freestanding trekking-pole tents usually hold the weight advantage. Two doors and two vestibules (0.83 m² each) give both occupants independent entry and gear storage, a meaningful upgrade over single-door two-person shelters where one person has to climb over the other. The fly and floor are both 15D silicone-coated silpoly rated to 3500 mm hydrostatic head, a durable, low-stretch fabric that holds pitch tension well across changing conditions. Floor area comes to 3 m², with peak height documented at around 110 cm — enough to sit up comfortably, though not to stand. The pitch uses 8 stakes and includes guylines, four interior pockets and a gear loft keep small items organized, and the whole package packs down to 45 × 13 cm. Aimed at backpacking and thru-hiking duos who want double-wall protection without carrying a heavier four-season shelter, it suits three-season trips rather than sustained winter conditions.
