Mountain Hardwear Space Station Dome Tent

The Mountain Hardwear Space Station is a freestanding geodesic dome built for basecamps rather than backpacking — its 15-person capacity, 26.4 m² floor area and 257 cm peak height create genuine standing room for a group expedition, not a tent carried on a hiking trail. Fifteen DAC PressFit aluminum poles form the geodesic structure that gives the dome its wind resistance, a key requirement for high-altitude and extreme winter conditions. At roughly 39 kg total weight (about 2.6 kg per person at full capacity), this is basecamp gear meant to be driven, sledded or flown in rather than carried on foot. The 180D nylon oxford fly with PU coating (1500mm hydrostatic head) and eleven vents across peak and low positions balance weather protection with condensation control inside a densely occupied shelter. The tent has no integrated floor, which is typical for basecamp domes meant to house separate sleeping modules or gear storage. Three doors ease traffic for a large group, and guy lines are included for storm-proofing in exposed terrain. This is specialized expedition infrastructure, not general backpacking gear.
