Mountain Hardwear Stronghold Dome Tent

The Mountain Hardwear Stronghold is a freestanding geodesic dome for 10 people, positioned one tier below the Space Station in Mountain Hardwear's basecamp lineup but built to the same expedition standard. Fifteen DAC Pressfit aluminum poles create the geodesic frame, and a perimeter snow skirt seals the base against drifting snow — a detail that matters for high-altitude and winter basecamps rather than three-season backpacking. At around 22 kg total (19.5 kg minimum), it splits to roughly 2 kg per person at full capacity — reasonable for basecamp gear meant to be hauled by vehicle, porter or sled rather than carried on a hiking trail. The 70D nylon taffeta fly with PU coating (2000mm hydrostatic head) is substantially heavier-duty than backpacking tent fabrics, built to withstand sustained storms rather than occasional rain. Like the larger Space Station, it has no integrated floor, so it is typically paired with separate ground protection or sleeping modules. Two doors and reflective guy lines with DAC J-stakes round out a shelter designed for extended expedition stays in demanding conditions rather than casual camping.
