MSR FreeLite 2

The MSR FreeLite 2 is a semi-freestanding, double-wall dome tent for two, built around a three-season rating. Two DAC NFL aluminium poles (8.7 mm) support a full-mesh inner body, which keeps airflow high and condensation manageable on milder nights. The fly is 15D ripstop nylon with a PeU coating rated to 1200 mm, and the bathtub floor uses the same-denier 15D nylon with a 1200 mm PU coating; seams come factory taped. At 1.06 kg packed weight (910 g minimum trail weight), it sits at the lighter end of two-person tents that still offer a proper mesh inner rather than a bare tarp – about 530 g per person. Floor dimensions of 213×127 cm and 2.7 m2 of floor area are efficient rather than roomy, but two vestibules totalling 1.4 m2 and two doors mean each occupant gets independent entry and gear storage. Packed down to 46×11 cm, it suits multi-day backpacking and thru-hiking, though the spec sheet points to fair-weather three-season use rather than winter conditions.
