REI Co-op Trail Hut 2 Tent with Footprint

The REI Co-op Trail Hut 2 is a freestanding, double-wall dome tent for two, built for three-season use on three aluminum poles with an 8.5 mm diameter. The inner tent is only partial mesh, which compared to full-mesh designs offers somewhat better protection from the cold at the cost of reduced airflow on warm nights. A 2.95 m² floor (1.48 m² per person) and 102 cm peak height give two people reasonable room, while two D-shaped doors with vestibules totaling 1.77 m² allow independent entry from either side and keep gear out of the sleeping area. The fly is 68D polyester taffeta and the floor 66D of the same material, both PU-coated with factory-sealed seams against leaks. Two peak vents, reflective guy lines for nighttime visibility, and six shepherd-hook steel stakes round out the tent. With two interior pockets and an included footprint, the Trail Hut 2 is equipped for regular backpacking, though its 2690 g total weight (2208 g trail weight, or 1104 g per person) places it among affordable all-round tents rather than the ultralight category.
