The Alto TR2 is the two-person version of the Tension Ridge design, where a cross pole pulls the walls to a near-vertical angle, creating a roomier interior than typical dome tents — 1.25 m² of floor area per person and 4.17 m² of total living space with two vestibules (1.67 m² combined) are strong figures for the ultralight two-person category. At a trail weight of 1,335 g (minimum weight 1,188 g), it sits firmly in the lightweight 3-season bracket; both fly and floor are 15D ripstop nylon rated to a 1,200 mm hydrostatic head.
Two doors and two vestibules mean neither occupant has to climb over the other, a meaningful comfort difference on extended trips for two. The inner tent is full mesh, so ventilation is excellent, but expect condensation on the fly in cold, humid conditions. Nine stakes, factory-taped seams, and DAC aluminum poles round out solid build quality. It suits couples on 3-season trips prioritizing low weight, not winter or expedition use.
