At 533 g, the Katabatic Gear Flex 30 900 is the lightest quilt in this Katabatic set, combining a mild 30°F (-1°C) comfort rating with 900-fill-power goose down (312 g of fill) for minimal weight. It undercuts the 850fp version of the same model by 68 g at the same warmth rating, and is roughly 100 g lighter than the 22°F-rated Flex 22 900 — the gap you'd expect from eight fewer degrees of cold protection. One detail sets it apart from most other Katabatic quilts here: the down is not RDS-certified, unlike the Alsek and other Flex models — worth knowing if the Responsible Down Standard matters to you. Construction otherwise follows the family pattern: continuous horizontal baffles with more fill biased toward the top (60/40 split) where insulation against the pad matters most, footbox ventilation, an internal pocket, and a Pertex Quantum Eco shell over Pertex Quantum Taffeta. This is the "short" size, rated to 167 cm. Packed volume is 6.5 litres — a minimalist choice for summer trips where gram-counting outweighs down-sourcing certification.
