The Zpacks 20f Solo Quilt is an ultralight down quilt with no zipper or hood, designed to sit over a sleeping pad and attach to it via pad loops — insulation underneath comes from the pad itself, not the quilt's down. Its 339 g of 900 fill-power duck down is distributed unevenly, roughly 60/40 toward the top side, where thermal protection matters most. The trapezoidal foot box can be cinched into a more enclosed pocket for colder feet, while the rest of the quilt stays open and loose, letting you regulate warmth by adjusting the edges rather than a zipper. Rated to -7°C (20°F) and starting at 467 g, it sits among the lighter alternatives to a full 3-season sleeping bag. Quilts generally take some getting used to — without a hood or fully closed sides, they let in more draft than a mummy bag, in exchange for greater freedom of movement and lower weight. Best suited to experienced ultralight hikers already comfortable sleeping without the enclosed feel of a zipped bag.
