The Zpacks 30f Solo Quilt is the lightest quilt in the lineup, rated to -1°C (30°F) and starting at 335 g. Its 220 g of 900 fill-power duck down uses a DownTek hydrophobic treatment, which copes with damp conditions better than untreated down — a useful margin on such a light summer quilt. Box baffles with no sewn-through seams avoid the cold spots that stitched-through construction creates, while the open foot box lets you vent on warmer nights instead of staying zipped into a fixed shape. The quilt attaches to a sleeping pad via pad loops, so all insulation underneath comes from the pad rather than the quilt's down fill. This is a classic summer or shoulder-season piece for ultralight trips built around a minimal base weight, where the user accepts an open, zipperless, hoodless design in exchange for the lowest possible weight in the sleep system. Colder nights or less experienced users are better served by a warmer model in the range.
