Exped Dura 5R Duo

The Exped Dura 5R Duo takes the same R-value 4.8 insulation as the standard Dura 5R and puts it into a single wide mat sized for two: 183 x 105 cm, built as one piece rather than as a system that couples two individual pads together. At 1471 g, it weighs roughly 70% more than a single Dura 5R, the expected cost of covering double the surface area. Four low-profile, multi-function valves (inflate and deflate) speed up handling a mat this size, and it packs to 27 x 19 cm with an included Schnozzel pump bag, stuff sack, and repair kit. The 75D/170D recycled polyester shell is Oeko-Tex 100 certified, though unlike most other pads in the Dura line, this one is not listed as PFC-free, likely due to its durable water repellent finish. It has no integrated pillow attachment or built-in pump. For couples car camping or on trips where splitting shared gear weight makes sense, the Duo removes the gap between two separate pads; solo hikers are better served by the standard-width Dura 5R.
