Exped Ultra 1R Mummy

The Exped Ultra 1R Mummy is a lightened, mummy-shaped take on the summer Ultra 1R air pad, weighing just 310 g — the lightest pad in this whole batch of Exped mats. The tapered shape following a mummy bag's outline saves both material and weight compared with the rectangular versions, while the R-value stays at a summer-appropriate 1.8 (ASTM). The key construction detail is a set of vertical air chambers under Exped's AIRMAT technology, branded Cradle Comfort™, designed to hold the body more centered on the pad and resist side-slide. Both the top and bottom fabric are recycled 20D ripstop polyester with a TPU laminate and bluesign certification. The package includes a Schnozzel Pumpbag UL and repair kit, backed by a 5-year warranty. At roughly 172 g per unit of R-value and under a third of a kilo, this is clearly built for ultralight summer thru-hiking setups where every gram counts. The trade-off is less room to move thanks to the mummy taper, and no cushion for cooler nights outside its summer rating.
