MEC Vectair Insulated UL

The VectAir Insulated UL is an inflatable sleeping pad built around a hybrid insulation approach: PrimaLoft Gold Cross Core synthetic fill combined with a reflective mylar film, rather than down or foam alone. MEC rates it at R 2.8 under its own legacy testing rather than the newer ASTM F3340 standard, so the number compares well within MEC's own line but not necessarily to R-values from brands using the current standard. At 380 g, 172 x 51 cm and 5 cm thick, it sits in mainstream 3-season territory rather than winter use, with a tapered mummy shape and horizontal baffles that trim material at the shoulders and feet. The 30D ripstop polyester top and bottom fabric is tougher than the thinnest UL pad faces, a sensible trade given how easily thin pad fabric punctures on rocky or rooted ground. A flat, low-profile valve, and the fact that a pump sack, stuff sack, and repair kit all ship with the pad, round out a package aimed at 3-season backpackers who want warmth and durability without buying accessories separately.
