Description

The Robens Vapour 40 is a lightweight inflatable sleeping pad with no synthetic insulation — warmth comes purely from the air trapped in its air-sprung cell construction, which at an R-value of 1.5 is enough for summer bivvying but not for anything colder. At 4 cm thick and 415 g, it fits the profile of a typical summer ultralight pad, where the trade-off is low insulation in exchange for low weight. Both top and bottom fabrics are 20D 390T nylon ripstop with a TPU coating to prevent air seepage, and the rectangular shape — rather than a tapered mummy cut — gives a bit more sleeping area at the cost of extra weight per centimetre of length. The Peak valve allows quick inflation and deflation through a single opening. A stuff sack is included, but the manufacturer doesn't supply a pump sack or repair kit, so those need sourcing separately if wanted. The materials are PFC-free, and the pad carries a 2-year warranty. It's a pick for summer trekking and light bivvying, not a year-round shelter solution.
