Yate Alu Matte 180/50

The Yate Alu Matte 180/50 is a basic closed-cell foam sleeping pad with a reflective aluminium foil laminate that bounces radiant body heat back toward the sleeper rather than absorbing it. At 100 g for 180 × 50 cm and 3 mm thickness, it is among the lightest pads in its class, though the R-value of 0.5 places it firmly in one-season, warm-weather territory rather than genuine shoulder-season use. As closed-cell foam, it needs no inflation, cannot puncture in any way that ruins the trip, and stays functional regardless of pinholes or rough ground — practical advantages over inflatable pads for minimalist or budget setups. Its low bulk and near-zero weight also make it a natural add-on layer underneath an inflatable mat, where the combined R-value improves cold resistance for a fraction of the weight of a single higher-R pad. Best suited to summer solo trips, fastpacking, or as an insurance layer against inflatable-pad failure, rather than as a stand-alone pad for cool nights or shoulder-season backpacking.
