The Gregory Zulu 45 sits between the 40 and 65-liter Zulu packs, built for multi-day trekking rather than day hikes or fast overnights. It uses the same tensioned mesh back panel as the rest of the Zulu line, paired with a steel perimeter frame and a FreeFloat hip belt whose 3D-shaped pockets move with the hips during a stride rather than staying fixed. Torso length adjusts across a 3.5-inch range.
At 1,594 g for 45 liters, that's about 35 g per liter — the heaviest per-liter figure in the Zulu range covered here, largely explained by the 400D recycled polyester ripstop shell, a tougher fabric than the 210D nylon used on the smaller Zulu 40. Access is limited to a top lid rather than the front J-zip found on other Zulu models, which keeps the design simpler but means digging deeper for gear packed at the bottom.
One ice axe loop, a front pocket, two side pockets, and hydration compatibility cover the rest of the feature set; notably, this version does not ship with an integrated rain cover.
