The Movement 40L extends the Movement line by five litres over its smaller sibling, but simplifies the frame to a single aluminum stay instead of a pair. A floating hip belt with pockets moves with the hiker's stride, and a modular compression system lets the pack cinch down when the load doesn't fill the full volume. Unlike the Movement 35L, it includes load lifters, pointing to a design meant for somewhat heavier loads. At 40 litres it weighs 708 g, or 17.7 g per litre — a better ratio than the Movement 35L despite the larger capacity, making it one of the more efficient packs in the SWD range. A front pocket plus two side pockets give quick access to gear without opening the main compartment. The maker rates it for loads up to 40 lbs (about 18 kg), positioning it for multi-day treks and thru-hiking at the upper end of what still counts as ultralight.
