It is not tested against or rated for viruses, a common limitation of hollow-fiber technology, so in regions with a viral contamination risk you'd need to pair it with another treatment method. At 54 g and a flow rate of 0.76 L/min, it's a quick, light filter suited to both squeeze use and inline mounting in a hydration bladder's hose, and its 28 mm thread screws directly onto standard PET bottles.
