Katadyn BeFree AC 0.5L

The Katadyn BeFree AC 0.5L is a 72 g squeeze filter built around a 0.5 litre soft flask, with a 0.1 micron absolute filter tested against bacteria and protozoa. Flow rate runs up to 2 litres per minute, among the faster squeeze filters, and a removable activated-carbon stage improves taste and odour on top of the biological filtration. The cartridge is rated for 1,000 litres and is replaceable rather than needing the whole unit swapped once it's spent, and the carbon stage can be pulled out if you don't need odour/taste improvement, which also speeds up flow. At 72 g and 0.5 l capacity, it suits day hikes and lightweight backpacking where you're filtering small amounts frequently rather than needing high-volume group filtration.
