Description
The DD Hammocks Magic Carpet XL is a general-purpose waterproof groundsheet from the British brand DD Hammocks, primarily meant as a tent footprint or sleeping mat underlay, though its 220 × 140 cm size also works as a picnic blanket or improvised emergency shelter. The 190T polyester with 3,000 mm PU coating handles typical ground moisture and light dew, but this is not a heavy expedition-grade fabric — more a balance between durability and weight.
At 225 g for a sheet covering over two square metres, the weight is reasonable rather than ultralight; dedicated footprints in DCF or silnylon cover comparable area for noticeably less. Four corner attachment points let you tension the sheet or clip it to a tent's structure, and an integrated drawcord stuff sack keeps packing compact.
Universal compatibility means it isn't cut to fit any specific tent, convenient if you own multiple shelters, but it won't guarantee a perfect overlap or snug fit under every tent model. It suits weekend and week-long trips more than gram-critical thru-hiking, where a purpose-cut, lighter footprint makes more sense.
