The MSR Hook Stake Kit packs six lightweight 7075-series aluminium stakes with a shepherd-hook tip instead of a straight point. The curved shape lets you pull the stake out by hand or by tugging the guyline, without first having to twist it loose – useful for lighter tension points like tarp edges and vestibule guylines, less so for a tent's main corner anchors in hard ground. Each stake weighs 13 g and measures 17 cm – shorter and lighter than a standard Y-stake, which trades some holding power in firm ground for weight savings where the load is lighter. The full set of six totals 78 g. The anodised finish helps the stakes stand out against grass or in dim light. Universal compatibility means they work with any tent or tarp.
