The Fast Fly configuration of the Big Agnes Copper Spur 2 strips the tent down to a minimalist setup — the box contains only the fly, footprint, and poles, with the inner tent left out. What remains is a non-freestanding, single-wall tarp-style shelter that needs stakes (11 included) and a single DAC Featherlite NFL pole to pitch. The 15D HyperBead nylon fly, rated to 1,500 mm waterproofing, keeps the same footprint as the full tent — 2.69 m² with two doors and two vestibules totaling 1.67 m². Weight drops to 995 g (963 g minimum), roughly a third less than the standard double-wall setup, working out to 498 g per person — an appealing option for ultralight trips in warmer conditions where bugs and condensation are less of a concern. The 255 g footprint is included and doubles as the floor. Without a mesh inner, though, the shelter offers no insect protection or real privacy, a trade-off worth weighing before committing to this configuration.
