The Zpacks Free Trio Tent is the freestanding 3-person version of the Free family, built on an arched two-pole Easton Carbon 6.3 frame (405 g). Fly and floor are both DCF with a stated 15,000 mm water column rating; the fly alone weighs 563 g, and the whole tent comes to 982 g — 327 g per person, a solid figure for a freestanding 3-person shelter.
The 3.44 m² floor (229×150 cm) works out to 1.15 m² per person, the inner is full noseeum mesh, and two vestibules with four doors give independent access from both sides; there's one interior pocket. Seams are factory-taped and guylines are included, but the tent ships with no stakes — the freestanding frame makes them optional, though a set is worth carrying for stability in wind.
For three people, or two with gear, it's a trade of floor space against a lower peak height (107 cm) compared with pole-supported trekking tents. No footprint is available for this model.
