MSR FreeLite 3-Person Ultralight Backpacking Tent

The MSR FreeLite 3-Person is a semi-freestanding, double-wall, three-season tent built around two DAC NFL aluminium poles (8.7 mm). Its true rectangular floor, 213×168 cm, yields 3.57 m2 of floor area – a genuinely usable footprint for three rather than a cramped compromise. Both fly and floor are 15D ripstop nylon: the fly carries a silicone/PU coating rated to 1200 mm, and the bathtub floor matches that waterproof rating. Packed weight is 1.23 kg (1.07 kg in minimum trail configuration), which works out to roughly 410 g per person when split three ways – a figure that makes more sense as shared group gear than as an individual's base-weight item. Two vestibules totalling 1.39 m2 and two doors give independent entry points, rain gutters help keep water out when opening the doors in wet weather, and the full-mesh inner supports airflow. A built-in gear loft adds small-item storage. It suits backpacking, thru-hiking, and ultralight trips for parties of three who are willing to split the shelter's weight between packs rather than carry it solo.
