The 20D nylon shell carries a DWR finish, which sheds light condensation and stray splashes but is not a substitute for a bivy or tent in sustained rain. As a quilt rather than a mummy bag, it has no zipper, no hood, and an open trapezoidal foot box, so warmth depends on a good seal against the pad or hammock rather than a hood cinch.
