Description

The Hammock Gear Economy Burrow 40 is an entry-level ultralight top quilt built for mild three-season conditions, with a manufacturer rating of 40°F (4°C). At 450 g including a 233 g fill of 850 fill-power duck down, it sits toward the lighter end of budget quilts, trading some of the loft efficiency of goose down for a lower price while keeping an RDS certification on the down sourcing. The 20D nylon shell carries a DWR finish, which sheds light condensation and stray splashes but is not a substitute for a bivy or tent in sustained rain. As a quilt rather than a mummy bag, it has no zipper, no hood, and an open trapezoidal foot box, so warmth depends on a good seal against the pad or hammock rather than a hood cinch. The short-length cut suits users up to 175 cm; taller hikers will want a longer version. It works equally in a hammock underquilt-plus-topquilt setup or on the ground, and is a reasonable starting point for someone building a three-season UL sleep system without spending on premium goose down.
