The Therm-a-Rest Vesper 20F/-6C is an ultralight top quilt built for the colder end of 3-season use, tested to EN/ISO 23537 with a comfort rating around 0°C and a limit rating close to -6°C/20°F. Rather than a full sleeping bag with a zipper and hood, it's an open quilt design that straps to your pad via SynergyLink connectors, cutting the insulation that would otherwise get compressed uselessly underneath you.
Fill is 900-fill Nikwax Hydrophobic goose down — treated to resist moisture, RDS-certified, and PFAS-free. Box-baffle construction keeps the down from shifting between chambers, so loft stays consistent over repeated use compared to simpler sewn-through designs. The sewn trapezoidal footbox follows the shape of your feet without extra dead air to heat.
At 550 g total (360 g of that is down fill), with a 10D nylon ripstop shell treated with DWR, the Vesper sits in serious thru-hiking and base-weight-cutting territory for shoulder-season trips where a summer quilt won't cut it but a full winter bag is overkill. A stuff sack is included.
