Exped Dura 3R

The Exped Dura 3R sits at the entry point of Exped's Dura line of insulated air pads, built for three-season use with an R-value of 2.9 under the ASTM standard. Texpedloft synthetic insulation (60 g/m2, bluesign-certified) fills the vertical baffles, giving warmth down to cool but not freezing nights without the moisture sensitivity of down fill. At 714 g for the regular size and a 7.6 cm thickness, it's heavier than summer-only air pads but noticeably lighter than the higher-R Dura models further up the range, a reasonable middle ground for hikers who camp mostly in spring through autumn rather than deep winter. The 75D top fabric paired with a tougher 170D recycled ripstop bottom favors durability against ground abrasion over minimal weight, and two low-profile valves keep inflation and deflation quick. It packs down to 23 x 13 cm and ships with a Schnozzel pump bag, stuff sack, and repair kit. For thru-hikers chasing the lowest possible base weight, lighter uninsulated or lower-R pads exist, but the Dura 3R trades some grams for a wider comfortable temperature range.
