The Exped SynMat HL Winter MW is the cold-weather version of the wide insulated air pad, built on the same platform as the SynMat HL MW but with heavier Texpedloft synthetic insulation and an R-value of 5.0. At 610 g and 65 cm wide, it's a relatively light option for 4-season use, including snow and freezing conditions where thinner summer pads lose their insulating edge.
The shell is 20D polyester, the construction uses horizontal baffles, and two FlatValve fittings allow fast inflation; the pad is pump-sack compatible, which helps keep breath moisture out of the insulation. A stuff sack and repair kit are included, with a 5-year warranty on materials.
At roughly 122 g per unit of R-value, this ranks among the more efficient pads in Exped's lineup, suggesting a purpose-built winter design rather than a summer pad with extra fill bolted on. It suits winter multi-day trips and ultralight cold-weather kits well; for ordinary summer trekking it's more insulation — and weight — than necessary.
