The Versa 5R weighs 839 g, the heaviest pad of the nine Exped models covered here. That extra weight buys a tougher 75D polyester fabric (versus the thinner 20D materials on the Ultra models) and nearly 9 cm of air thickness, which gives above-average comfort on hard ground. Weight-per-R (over 161 g per point) is a solid number for a winter pad, if not a record one. It packs to 30 × 17 cm — bulkier than most of the pads here, worth factoring into pack planning. An integrated pump replaces a separate pump sack, and the package includes a stuff sack and repair kit.
