The Windrider 40 in White is a lighter build of Hyperlite Mountain Gear's 40-litre thru-hiking pack, pairing a DCH50 Dyneema Composite Hybrid body with a reinforced DCH150 base rather than the fully DCH150 construction used on the Black colourway — the trade-off shaves weight down to 848 g against 916 g while keeping the reinforced base where abrasion matters most. Main volume is 40 litres plus 9.8 litres of external mesh storage, for 49.8 litres total, supported by two removable aluminium stays.
Shoulder straps use an S-curved ergonomic cut, and the padded hip belt is fixed rather than removable, with zippered pockets included. Internal pockets and hydration-sleeve compatibility are present, and the roll-top main compartment closes via a YKK zipper detail. Side compression straps and dual stretch-mesh side pockets round out the layout. At roughly 17 g per litre of volume and an 18.1 kg load rating, it is built for multi-day trekking on technical trails rather than pure fastpacking, offering a reasonable balance between water resistance, weight and load-carrying comfort.
