Durston X-Dome 1+

The Durston X-Dome 1+ is a freestanding single-person tent using a symmetric dome geometry built around Easton carbon poles, bringing minimum weight down to 985 g (1,040 g packed). Freestanding construction — unusual at this weight in a solo ultralight tent — means it can be pitched on hard ground, rock slab, or platforms where stakes don't hold, without depending on trekking poles. Double-wall design separates a partial-mesh inner from a 15D silicone-coated fly rated to 3500 mm hydrostatic head, giving reasonable protection against sustained rain while the mesh manages condensation on humid nights. At 2.2 m² of floor area and 108 cm peak height, the interior is noticeably roomier than typical ultralight single-person shelters, where headroom is often the first thing sacrificed for weight. A single vestibule (0.85 m²) and two doors round out the layout, and the tent packs to 48 × 12 cm. Built for backpacking and thru-hiking where three-season-plus conditions are expected, it suits solo hikers who want freestanding convenience without the weight penalty that design usually carries.
