The Mountain Hardwear Nimbus UL 2 Tent cuts weight by dropping from two freestanding poles to a single DAC Featherlight NFL pole in a semi-freestanding layout, needing stakes and guy lines to reach its full, stable shape rather than standing on its own. That single-pole approach and lighter fabrics – 20D silicone-coated nylon fly at 1200 mm and 30D PU nylon floor at 1500 mm – bring trail weight to 920 g, under half the weight of the freestanding 2-person tents in the range. Floor space is 2.6 m² (218 x 132 cm) with a 104 cm peak height, one door, and a single 0.7 m² front vestibule – noticeably smaller than the two-vestibule freestanding models, so gear storage is tighter. The partial-mesh inner trades some ventilation for warmth, and because the fly is silicone-coated rather than PU-taped, seams need self-sealing instead of relying on factory tape. At 519 g per person and a 2.51 space-efficiency score, this is built for thru-hiking and ultralight base weights, where the smaller vestibule and semi-freestanding pitch are acceptable trade-offs for the weight saved.
