Description
The Hilleberg Soulo is a 1-person, fully freestanding dome tent built for expedition-strength use on ridgelines, in high winds, and through winter conditions - a solo shelter designed to hold up where lesser tents wouldn't. At 2400 g packaged weight, that's a real amount of tent for one person, but the weight buys a freestanding structure that can be pitched on rock, snow platforms, or exposed terrain without relying on stakes for its shape.
The 3+ season (extended) rating reflects genuine year-round use rather than fair-weather-only 3-season tents, making the Soulo a plausible choice for winter mountaineering, ski touring, or solo expeditions where reliable pitching matters more than saving grams. For a solo hiker on established 3-season trails who doesn't need expedition-grade wind resistance, this is more tent and weight than necessary - a lighter Red Label solo tent would be the better fit.
