Marmot Catalyst 2-Person Tent

The Marmot Catalyst 2-Person Tent is a freestanding, double-wall dome built for 3-season backpacking and car camping rather than technical alpine use. Two Velocity HD aluminum poles pitch inner-first into a symmetric dome that sheds wind reasonably well on most pitches. At 2410 g packaged, it sits in the mid-weight backpacking bracket — not ultralight, but splittable between two hikers — and its 3.2 m² floor with a 115 cm peak height leaves enough room to sit up and keep gear inside rather than only in the vestibules. Two vestibules totaling 1.7 m² are a real advantage over single-door two-person tents: each occupant can enter, exit and store boots or a pack without climbing over the other. The 8-denier polyester fly (1500 mm, factory-taped seams) paired with a 68-denier, 2000 mm bathtub floor handles regular rain well but is not built for sustained storms. An included footprint protects the floor coating at no extra cost, and the overall package favors comfort and durability over shaving grams.
