Hyperlite Mountain Gear UltaMid 4 – Ultralight Pyramid Tent

The UltaMid 4 is the enlarged version of Hyperlite Mountain Gear's pyramid line — a floorless, non-freestanding shelter for four people, pitched on two trekking poles and tensioned via twelve perimeter tie-out points. The fly is Dyneema Composite Fabric (DCF), a material with minimal water absorption, and seams come factory-taped, so no additional sealing is needed. At 769 g (635 g in minimum trim) and 7.9 m² of floor area, that works out to roughly 192 g and just under 2 m² per person — figures that make the UltaMid 4 one of the lighter four-person group shelters available. A 191 cm peak height allows standing in the center of the space. Two peak vents help airflow and reduce condensation, a common issue with single-wall pyramids. Rated for four-season and expedition use, it also suits winter and high-alpine trips, where the non-freestanding, floorless design trades weight for the need for careful staking and, optionally, a separately purchased mesh inner.
