The Mid 1 is Hyperlite Mountain Gear's solo pyramid-style shelter, built single-wall from Dyneema DCF and pitched with a single trekking pole rather than dedicated tent poles — a construction that keeps weight down to 454 g but means the shelter needs staked-out guylines and a taut pitch to hold its shape, since it is non-freestanding. The bathtub floor measures 244 x 81 cm with a floor area of roughly 1.95 m², and a peak height of 137 cm gives enough room to sit up but not to move around freely, typical for a minimalist one-person pyramid. One door and one vestibule of about 1.1 m² handle gear storage and entry/exit, while dual peak vents address the condensation issues that single-wall shelters are prone to in humid or cold conditions.
Rated for three-season use, it targets ultralight backpackers and thru-hikers who already carry a trekking pole and are comfortable trading interior space and wind stability for a very low pack weight. It is not a shelter for exposed, high-wind camping or four-season trips.
