The NEMO Kunai 2P is a freestanding, double-wall tent built around two DAC Featherlite NSL aluminum poles, with a trail weight of 1,760 g (1,960 g packaged) and a compact 50 × 16 cm pack size. Its 3-season-extended rating positions it a step above a standard summer shelter — durable enough for shoulder-season backpacking and moderate alpine bivouacs, though not a dedicated winter mountaineering tent. The floor is a 30D PeU nylon ripstop bathtub construction rated to 3000 mm hydrostatic head, giving solid protection against pooling water. The 15D nylon ripstop fly carries a lower 1200 mm rating — enough for typical rain but worth noting for prolonged, driving storms, where a higher-HH fly would offer more margin. A partial-mesh inner balances ventilation against wind protection, and a single door and vestibule (0.7 m²) keep the design simple. At 2.4 m² of floor space for two occupants, it favors a compact, wind-resistant footprint over generous room — a trade that suits exposed alpine sites, where a smaller tent holds up better against gusts.
