Tarptent Cloudburst 3

The Tarptent Cloudburst 3 is a semi-freestanding tunnel tent for three, built as a single-wall shelter with two arch poles (Easton Syclone or a carbon variant, both 9 mm in diameter). Fly and floor are both 30D silnylon rated at a 5000 mm water column, a solid figure that should handle sustained rain rather than just light showers. Total weight of 1563 g is reasonable for a 3-person tent, working out to 521 g per person, among the lighter group shelters rather than the pure solo ultralight category. Two doors with YKK #5 Aquaguard zippers and two vestibules allow independent entry from either side, and a fully mesh inner keeps airflow up and limits the condensation single-wall tents are prone to. Reflective guy lines help with orientation at night, and pitching needs just four Easton Nano aluminum stakes. A 3.44 m² floor area works out to 1.15 m² per person, generous compared with ultralight solo shelters. The manufacturer lists it for backpacking, thru-hiking and bikepacking, and a double ripstop fabric adds tear resistance over a single ripstop weave.
