The TarpTent StratoSpire Ultra is an ultralight 2-person A-frame shelter pitched with two trekking poles instead of dedicated tent poles — the non-freestanding design (it needs stakes to hold shape) keeps weight down to 1120 g total, or 560 g per person. The fly is Challenge Sailcloth Ultra TNT laminate with a silicone coating, the floor is 20D nylon with a bathtub shape, and the seams come factory-taped. A 2.98 m² floor (226 × 135 cm) and 114 cm peak height make it roomy for a 2-person shelter by ultralight standards — a space efficiency figure of 2.66 is on the better end for trekking-pole shelters. The inner is fully meshed, which gives excellent ventilation and keeps condensation down but lets in more cold air than partial-mesh designs in cooler weather. Two vestibules and two doors let both occupants get in and out independently, and two interior pockets hold small items. A footprint is sold separately; it's rated three-season and aimed at ultralight backpackers and thru-hikers.
